Yes, the program is mandatory. The success of the program relies on a bulk purchase so that students pay only $35 per month which is a significant discount in comparison to the retail price $170 for a three-zone pass. Ninety-six per cent of students who voted in the 2013 AMS Referendum overwhelmingly elected to participate in the new program at the cost of $35/per month.
