UBC students held a referendum in spring 2011 to approve participation in the new program, known as U-Pass BC. Students voted to support the new program, even at the increased cost. While the cost of U-Pass has gone up, it remains a significant discount when compared to the retail price of $170/month for a three zone travel pass.
