Like any other rider, you’ll need to get a standard adult Compass Card:

Online
By phone
In person at Compass Vending Machines, located at all SkyTrain, SeaBus and West Coast Express stations, or at a participating retailer

Compass Cards are durable, replaceable, and intended to last for several years. To get your Compass Card, you’ll need to pay a refundable deposit of $6.

Students should note that acquiring a Compass card at a vending machine or retailer will mean they’ll also purchase $10 of stored value—the same way the card is sold to the general public so they can use it right away. This stored value can be useful, particularly in the summer months when students can use their card to travel throughout the system on regular fare products, such as stored value or monthly passes. This value is also refundable in the event the student wishes a stored value refund.
